Our Story

How we ended up doing this

We build and repair decks around Sacramento, working mostly with homeowners who want an outdoor space that can actually hold a grill, a table and a few people without flexing underfoot. We got into deck work because it's carpentry you can stand on the same day it's done, and because so much of what makes a deck last is invisible once the boards go down.

If you're on this page, there's a decent chance a board's gone soft, a railing moves more than it should, or a deck that looked fine last year is starting to gray and split. Most of that traces back to water getting into the frame through a ledger board that was never flashed, or joists spaced wider than the span actually allows. We open up the structure before we quote a fix, so the repair addresses the framing and not just the board you can see.

Why Choose Us

What you get when you hire us

None of this is complicated. It is mostly just doing what we said we would do.

Licensed & Insured

We carry the license and insurance a deck project actually requires, and we'll show you the certificates if you ask. That matters more with decks than a lot of trades, since a bad railing or a failed footing is a real injury risk.

Written Quotes

You get a written quote that breaks out lumber, hardware and labor, not a single lump number. If something changes once we open up the old framing, we tell you before we do the work, not on the invoice.

Our Own Crew

The people framing your deck are the same people who talked through the design with you. That keeps the answers consistent when a question comes up mid-project instead of getting passed between companies.

Reliable Scheduling

Deck jobs get pushed around a lot when a crew is juggling five sites at once. We keep our schedule tight enough that we can actually commit to a start date and a rough finish window.

Material Options

We install pressure-treated lumber, cedar and composite decking, and we'll tell you honestly which one fits your budget and how much upkeep you're signing up for. Composite costs more upfront and needs almost no maintenance, treated lumber costs less but needs re-sealing every couple years.

Local Knowledge

We know which parts of Sacramento have clay soil that heaves footings if they're not set deep enough. We also know which cities require a permit for anything over 30 inches off the ground, so we plan for it up front.

Common Questions

Things people ask us

Questions about how we work and who's doing the work.

How long has this deck building business been operating?
Deck framing and repair experience shows up in the quality of past work and the specificity of the quote more reliably than a stated number of years. Asking to see examples of completed decks, especially the framing before boards went down, tells a homeowner more than a business age would.
Does the crew build decks directly or use subcontractors?
Working with an in-house crew rather than a rotating list of subcontractors means the same people who discuss the design are the ones framing and finishing the deck. That consistency matters on deck jobs, where framing decisions made early affect how the railing and stairs come together later.
Can I see examples of past deck projects?
Photos of completed deck projects, ideally including a few shots of the framing before decking went down, show whether footings, joist spacing and flashing were done properly. Seeing a range of project types, like a raised composite deck versus a simple ground-level platform, gives a better sense of range than finished photos alone.
Why choose a smaller deck builder instead of a large remodeling company?
A smaller deck-focused contractor tends to spend more time on the framing details that decide whether a deck lasts, since decks are the main focus rather than one line item among kitchens and additions. Larger remodeling companies often subcontract deck work out anyway, adding a markup without adding expertise.
Where is Omega Deck Company based?
Omega Deck Company is based in Sacramento, CA, and serves the surrounding area within roughly a 50 mile radius. Being local means familiarity with each city's permit requirements and with how the region's clay soil affects footing depth.
How far in advance do I need to book a deck project?
Booking a deck project a few weeks to a couple months ahead is typical, especially heading into spring and summer when demand is highest. Smaller repair jobs can sometimes be scheduled faster than a full new build that requires permitting.
Is the job site cleaned up after deck work is finished?
Full cleanup, including hauling away old decking material, packaging and leftover fasteners, should be part of any deck project and included in the original quote. A job isn't finished until the yard is left usable, not just the deck.
What if siding or landscaping gets damaged during construction?
A licensed and insured deck contractor should cover damage caused during construction, such as siding scraped during demolition or landscaping disturbed near footing holes. Checking for current liability insurance before work starts matters, not just after something happens.
Will a deck contractor finish a project another contractor started?
Taking over a partially built deck is possible, but it starts with an inspection of the existing framing to check whether footings, posts and joists were sized and installed correctly. Sometimes it's cheaper to remove and restart a section than to build on top of framing that wasn't done to span requirements.
How can a homeowner tell if deck work is being done correctly?
Footings should be set below the frost line and inspected before concrete gets poured if a permit is involved, and joist spacing should match the span table for the specific lumber species and board thickness used. Asking to see the framing before the decking boards go down, and asking which span tables were used, is a fair question for any deck contractor.
